Decision Support System for envionmental issues

The Venice Research Consortium has proven expertise in the development, testing debug and application of Decision Support Systems (DSS) aimed at addressing environmental problems, such as:

  • Estimation of the risks posed by contaminated sites
  • Rehabilitation of contaminated sites
  • Assessment of the quality of surface water and groundwater
  • Assessment of the impact of climate changes on costal areas and water resources
  • Assessment of the possible impacts of plans and programmes on the territory

DSSs are highly interactive information systems that provide decision makers with a number of functions that support and improve the decision-making process. They:

  • Integrate innovative methodologies for the assessment of the pressure, impact and risk posed by anthropic and natural activities
  • Integrate environmental and socio-economic information by developing dedicated Multi Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) methodologies that support end users and decision-makers in the decision-making process.
