With the aim to study the synthesis of many polymers and their additives
and organic charges, the Consortium Venice Research uses pilot equipments and
laboratories of the other partners of the consortium. Moreover a complete
chemical, physical and mechanical characterization of polymer materials through
specific instruments is available. In particular:
- Pilot plant for thermoplastic polymers, extruders equipped with proper
accessories (batchers, shearing machines, etc.) for sampling, applicative tests
and adaptations for companies;
- Equipments for injection moulding, design and
realization of moulds for ASTM std. specimens, thermal-pressure moulding of
specimens, optimization of blend formulations and compounding;
- Mechanical
characterization, determination of the main properties like elastic modulus,
impact resi stance, thermal and electric properties, even at the different
temperatures, dynamic mechanic analysis, creep behavior;
- Chemical-physical characterization, chemical analysis thorugh IR and UV
spectroscopies, gaschromatography (GC), thermal analysis (differential scanning
calorimetry DSC and thermo gravimetric analysis TGA), scanning electron
microscopy with elements microanalysis;
- Accelerated weathering tests and fire resistance.
