The main research activities on nanotecnology area deal with the creation and application of nano-based coatings,thin films on different surfaces (polymers, glass, etc.). The purpose is to obtain homogeneous coatings characterized by protective features (anticorrosive, scratch resistant, etc.) or specific functional properties (selfcleaning hydrophobic layers, proofing, etc.) through:

 

  • atmospheric plasma (vapor deposition techniques)
  • sol-gel techniques
  • cold-spray techniques
  • nano-based sintered materials obtained by high velocity press consolidation
  • sintering of many different materials through high vacuum furnace

 

Such nano-based coatings and materials can be characterized by chemical analysis and spectroscopy, nanometric resolution measurements for surface morphology through AFM microscopy, thermal analysis (TGA, DTA) and electrochemical investigations.
