The Consortium is working also in research and development of metallic materials, focusing on electrodeposition technologies, foundry, powder metallurgy, machining, heat treatments and surface treatments applied on non-ferrous metals and alloys, light alloys, rare and precious metals. For this purpose many different instruments are used:
Moreover CVR is able to analyze and characterize different glass materials and glass matrix composites applying specific techniques and instruments to deep investigate their chemical, physical and optical properties (X-ray fluorescence diffraction, mineralogic analysis, density, defects analysis using microscopy, ect.). Mechanical properties can also be determined, using suitable tests and measurements (weathering tests, fragmentation tests, etc.), thus evaluating the quality of both glasses and raw materials (carbonates, clay, etc.).
